Januar 2026 nahm Prof. Dr. Niels Quack, Institutsleiter des IMS CHIPS, an der SPIE Photonics West 2026 im Moscone Center in San Francisco teil \u2013 einer der weltweit bedeutendsten Konferenzen f\u00fcr Optik und Photonik. Neben seiner Teilnahme war er auch in seiner Rolle als Member des Program Committee aktiv in die Gestaltung der Konferenz eingebunden.<\/p><p>Mit \u00fcber 23.000 registrierten Fachbesuchern, rund 1.600 Ausstellern und mehr als 4.200 wissenschaftlichen Beitr\u00e4gen bot die Photonics West erneut eine einzigartige Plattform f\u00fcr den Austausch zwischen Forschung, Industrie und Technologieentwicklung. Die Konferenz umfasste sechs thematische Schwerpunkte \u2013 darunter BiOS, LASE, OPTO, Quantum West, Vision Tech sowie AR | VR | MR \u2013 und spiegelte damit die gesamte Bandbreite aktueller photonischer Forschung wider.<\/p><p>Ein besonderer pers\u00f6nlicher H\u00f6hepunkt war f\u00fcr Niels Quack die Reunion am Berkeley Sensor &amp; Actuator Center (BSAC). Das BSAC, gegr\u00fcndet 1986 als NSF Industry\/University Cooperative Research Center, gilt als internationaler Wegbereiter f\u00fcr Mikrosensoren, Mikroaktuatoren und MEMS-Technologien.
