Zum 1. April 2025 hat Prof. Dr. Niels Quack die gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrende Leitung des Instituts f\u00fcr Mikroelektronik Stuttgart (IMS CHIPS) \u00fcbernommen. Gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Jens Anders wird er das Institut mit Innovationskraft und strategischer Weitsicht in die Zukunft f\u00fchren.<\/p>

<\/p>

Impulse f\u00fcr die Mikro- und Nanotechnologie<\/strong><\/p>

Prof. Dr. Quack bringt umfassende Erfahrung in der Mikro- und Nanosystemtechnik mit. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf innovativen Mikro- und Nanofertigungstechniken neuer Materialien sowie der Integration von Mechanik und Photonik auf kleinster Skala. \u201eIch freue mich darauf, am IMS CHIPS technologische Impulse zu setzen und gemeinsam mit einem hochqualifizierten Team an zukunftsweisenden Innovationen zu arbeiten\u201c, freut sich Quack.<\/p>

<\/p>

Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt der Weiterentwicklung integrierter Photonik f\u00fcr Rechenzentren und Hochleistungsrechner sowie essenziellen Schl\u00fcsseltechnologien der Mikro- und Nanosystemtechnik \u2013 Themen, die in den kommenden Jahren eine zentrale Rolle in Wissenschaft und Industrie spielen werden.<\/p>

<\/p>

Starke Verbindung zwischen Forschung und Lehre<\/strong><\/p>

Neben seiner Rolle als Institutsleiter folgt Prof. Dr. Quack einem Ruf als Universit\u00e4tsprofessor an die Universit\u00e4t Stuttgart. Damit st\u00e4rkt er die enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen universit\u00e4rer Grundlagenforschung und industrieller Anwendung. \u201eDiese Verbindung ist entscheidend, um Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg als Innovationsstandort weiter voranzubringen\u201c, betont Quack.<\/p>

<\/p>

Auch Prof. Dr. Jens Anders freut sich \u00fcber die Verst\u00e4rkung: \u201eMit Niels Quack gewinnen wir einen herausragenden Wissenschaftler, der mit seiner Expertise und internationalen Erfahrung das Institut auf ein neues Level heben wird. Nach mehreren Jahren als Associate Professor und Academic Director der Research and Prototype Foundry an der Universit\u00e4t Sydney kehrt Prof. Dr. Quack nun nach Deutschland zur\u00fcck. \u201eDie Forschung am IMS CHIPS ist weltweit f\u00fchrend \u2013 ich freue mich darauf, hier an der Entwicklung zukunftsweisender Technologien mitzuwirken\u201c, sagt er abschlie\u00dfend.<\/p>
